Derren Brown says he’s going to predict the lottery numbers tonight, live on all the Channel 4 channels, at around the same time as the lottery draw is broadcast “live” on BBC One.
I predict he’s going to get it deliberately wrong.
The guy’s just too classy to do something lame like write down a prediction in a sealed envelope and open it after the draw. He’s going to have to show us the numbers live on Channel 4, before they appear on BBC One, to even come close to justifying the hype.
If he does predict the numbers correctly, there’s pretty much only one way he could do it, and that method would not need a whole hour show on Friday for the explanation.
It seems to me that he’s going to get it wrong, but that there’ll be something significant about tonight’s show that will play into Friday’s show. He’ll make out he’s priming his audience by implanting ideas, or the numbers are significant, or something.
Or he’ll get the numbers right and spend the subsequent 48 hours working them into his live set, explaining the broadcast delay thing away in the first two minutes of Friday’s show.
