Stewart Lee’s last Edinburgh show was entitled “41st Best Stand Up Ever”, in reference to this Channel 4 poll.

At the bottom of the list, Tim Vine, an old-fashioned rapid-fire gag man who I think deserved to be ranked higher. He once held the Guinness World Record for most jokes told in an hour.

Here’s a clip of one of his old routines. It starts badly, but quickly warms up.

On the basis of a) my unsubstantiated belief that this blog has readers, b) my partially substantiated belief that sustaining Google PageRank and thus texturbation’s $200-a-month revenue stream requires regular posting, and c) my completely substantiated belief that no longer being a Really Important Journalist and/or a sleazy backpacking alcoholic means I will no longer have stories I consider worthy of your attention on a sufficiently frequent schedule, I may, from now on, on occasion, post a YouTube video for no other reason than I find it funny.
